Do me and my partner need to attend couples therapy together for each session?

Yes. At Heartfelt Flourish we see your relationship as our “client” and we can’t do couples therapy work if we’re only getting one side of the story. As part of the assessment phase, we do see each of you separately for one session and after that, all sessions are done together.

Sometimes yes. In some instances, meeting with an individual therapist to work on your own emotional and mental blocks, childhood and/or relationship trauma, attachment issues, coping strategies for stress, etc. can be very helpful in creating a space for your own therapeutic process during the couples therapy process.

Making positive and lasting changes in a relationship that is going through a challenging time or has operated in an unhealthy way takes hard work. Anyone that tells you otherwise isn’t telling the whole truth. 

Typically, couples begin to start seeing improvement in their relationship after 3-6 months of intentional work on their relationship as they continue to prioritize their relationship needs. This of course all depends on how motivated each person in the relationship is to do their own individual work and how much they prioritize their time and energy around making tangible steps to improve their connection with their partner.
